Detailed Description

Air contain 78.09% 9by volume ) nitrogen. Nitrogen condenses at its boiling point, minus 195.8C Nitrogen is a colourless, odorless, odorless and tasteless gas, inert gas . It is nonflammable and it will combine with certain active metals, such as lithium, magnesium and titanium to form nitrides. In combination with halogens and organic compound, nitrogen can form explosive compounds. Multi – Industry user :- The inert properties of nitrogen make it a good blanketing gas in many applications. In some cases nitrogen blanking is used to protect flammable or explosive solids and liquids from contact with air. Metal:- Nitrogen is used to treat the melt in the manufacturing of steel and other metals and as shield gas in the heat treatment of iron, steel and other metals. Manufacturing and Constructins:- When construction operation must be done in soft water – soaked ground such as tunnel construction underneath wateways the ground can be frozen effectively with liquid nitrogen. Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals and Petrolem :- Refineries petrochemical plant and marine tankers use nitrogen to purge equipment, tanks and pipelines of dangerous vapors and gases. Rubber and Plastics:- Materials become hard and brittle when cooled by to very temperatures. This property permits the removal of flash or fins on cast plastics and rubber. The castings are caooled by liquid nitrogen and flash broken off by mechanical action. Food and Beverages & Health Care:- Extraordinarily cald liquid nitrogen allows very rapid freezing of food items, resulting in minimum cell damage from ice crystals and improved appearance, taste and texture . Nitrogen is used as a shied gas in the packing of some medicines to prevent degradation by oxidation or moinsture absoption. Nitrogen is used to freeze blood, as well as viruses for vaccination.
